Seriously looked a quarter-inch of clearance...

Dude probably doesn’t even know how close he is. It seems many people vastly misjudge the size of their vehicles.

Neither. It’s ignorance. Enough trucks have had their tops chopped off by bridges to tell me that most people don’t have a real good idea of how big their vehicle is.

There are signs everywhere saying clearance is 6'1"...

Works great, until it doesn’t.

I’m going for option C. It’s a fleet truck and he don’t give a damn.

Six-word stories:
Everything worked great, until it didn’t.

yeah but is there even a chance this guy knows his truck is 6' and 1/2"?
![]() 02/25/2020 at 11:15 |

His truck is probably 6'4". The posted clearance is very conservative.

I’m thinking option D: It’s a chubby guy who didn’t realize how much he makes the suspension squat.

As someone who used to park this in parking garages:
Confidence is the correct answer. I knew exactly how tall my truck was and exactly which parking structures I could park in. I also knew which ones I could park in if I swerved around the signs on the ceiling.

I want to know how this guy
handled it the
first
time he parked in our garage - ha!

I’m guessing he had no idea how close he was.

Someone I know (wasn’t me, I won’t say who though) once drove his f250 with ladder rack into a parking garage, said something kind of banged when he pulled in/up the ramp, figured it was the drain at the entrance. No issues in the garage, until he went to leave and on the downward slope to get out realized that in this direction the ladder rack would not clear the beam (which it clipped coming in). He had to back up into a spot and dismantle the ladder rack to get out (then put it back together on the side of the road because work truck).

I used to hang out the window to watch the clearance sign on the way in and do the same while crawling thru the first time.
There was a local one that the “clearance” sign was hung about 6" lower than anything in the garage, but I knew that because I used to park there before the new sign went up. The look on the attendant’s face when I let the sign slide over the roof of the truck and kept going was priceless.

It really is deplorable how often people never even consider the practical solution.
